Tottenham signs Timo Werner on Loan from RB Leipzig

 

Timo Werner, has signed with Tottenham, on a loan move until end of the season. He makes his return to the Premier League on an undisclosed loan fee with an option to buy. This is as a result of Son missing Premier league football due to him playing the Asia cup for his home country. The German completes his loan move as he returns to the Premier League after his average form at Chelsea, which saw him score 23 goals in 89 games for Chelsea. 

Reports reaching the mainstream media, is that, Tottenham will cover the German football international’s full salary until the end of his loan with the club, which ends in 6 months time. 

Werner, whose current form in Bundesliga is unarguably very good. He scored a total of 16 goals last season for RB Leipzig, although hasn’t featured much this season for the German side, as he has only 14 appearances for them this season and has only managed to find the net twice this season. 

Tottenham Hotspur will hope Werner cracks the code with them as there is an option to buy in his contract with them worth €15.6M. They saw the reasons to boost their attack, as injuries has stroke them earlier, and a few players of theirs will be playing in the Africa cup of nations and the Asia cup. 

The German will hope to find his form at Tottenham, as he hopes to fit into Tottenham’s style of play. He said in an interview that Tottenham’s head coach, Ange Posetcoglou was the main reasons he decided to join the club. As he sees a long term future at the club beyond his loan move. 

He also mentioned that he liked the style of play, and sees himself fitting in to that style of play. Werner also added that, he hopes to be the best player at the club and the league by the end of the season. The German international also added that, he has missed premier league football and can’t wait to be on the pitch playing for Tottenham as soon as possible.

The risk of the deal is all on Werner, as if he struggles to find form by the end of his loan spell, he will have to return to his former club RB Leipzig by the end of the season if Tottenham doesn’t trigger the option to buy in his contract. Therefore leaving Werner with a point to prove in the Premier league this season. 

The former Chelsea man, will wear the number 16 shirt for Tottenham Hotspur. He will also start training with the club as soon as possible as they face Manchester United this coming week at their own backyard, as he hopes to feature in the match and make an impact for his team.
